3" – 4" Short Drill Collar Slip (DCS-S) | API 7K

The Safety Shark 3" – 4" Short Drill Collar Slip (DCS-S) is a heavy-duty manual slip designed to safely grip and suspend 3" to 4" OD drill collars during drilling, tripping and tubular handling operations. Manufactured from high-strength heat-treated alloy steel and designed in accordance with API 7K principles, the DCS-S provides secure load distribution, reliable gripping performance and long service life in demanding drilling environments.

The multi-segment slip body features a full wrap-around design that evenly distributes the load around the drill collar while reducing the risk of pipe damage. Fitted with replaceable circular button inserts, the DCS-S delivers excellent gripping performance and allows worn inserts to be replaced individually, reducing maintenance costs and extending the service life of the slip assembly. The slip body incorporates an API 4" per foot taper, ensuring compatibility with standard No. 3 API insert bowls. Elastomer grip handles provide improved handling and operator comfort during rig floor operations.

It is common industry practice to use Safety Clamps when handling drill collars. The flat upper surface of the DCS-S is designed to allow the safe and secure fitting of compatible safety clamps during drilling operations.
